SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

S.B.O.A. MATRIC. & HR. SEC. SCHOOL, SOCIAL SERVICE ACTIVITIES

SBOA Matric family firmly believes that ,moral values and a heart to serve humanity makes a man complete .We inculcate rich basic values and love for humanity, apart from academics. This is done not only through class room lessons but also by  involving students in social service activities. One such venture is 'Akshaya Pathiram' , a community refrigerator has been installed outside SBOA Matriculation and Higher Secondary school, Anna Nagar, West extension, Chennai-600 101 .A wall of kindness  is also kept along side for keeping items other than food items. The primary goal behind this noble venture was to ensure zero hunger, achieve food security and ensure access to all the people, particularly who are in vulnerable situations .It is a small step enabling us to fulfill SDG goal 2 to be realised in its fullest form . Students, teachers and the people from the surrounding area contribute food and clothes which can be availed by the ones who are really in need .The Atchayapathiram has been active since it was installed and will continue to do so meeting our motto and principles.

Reflective Collars

Carrying forward the spirit of service, on 28 August 2024, our students prepared reflective collars for stray animals and handed them over to Blue Cross, supporting animal safety on roads.
The initiative highlighted teamwork, social responsibility, and the belief that every small effort helps build a better environment.

AT SEVALAYA – Literacy Outreach Programme
As part of our ongoing commitment to community development and education for all, a meaningful literacy outreach programme was organised at Sevalaya . Driven by a spirit of service, our teachers and students came together to engage with children and create a joyful learning experience.

The session focused on strengthening spoken English skills through interactive conversations, simple sentence-building activities, and guided practice. To encourage multilingual exposure, a few Hindi rhymes were also taught, adding fun, rhythm, and confidence to the learners.

Beyond academics, the visit emphasized care, inclusion, and support. Children were provided with notebooks, crayons, and chocolates, creating excitement and reinforcing the message that learning is both nurturing and enjoyable.

The initiative reflected our school’s belief that education must go beyond classroom walls. By reaching out, sharing knowledge, and spending time with underserved children, our students gained valuable lessons in empathy, social responsibility, and community engagement.

The programme was a small yet meaningful step toward building a brighter, more confident generation—one child, one word, and one smile at a time.
