Meet the Firefighters

Our S.B.I.O.A. Educational Trust Institutions educate the students on how to tackle and deal with real life situations. As part of the training programme & disaster management, the SHARPEN Academy organised ‘Meet the Community’ programme, an awareness programme for the middle school students of the four Chennai Schools. The heroes and helpers of the society, the Fire Fighters, were invited to demonstrate the first step to be taken in case of fire accidents and to educate them on the safety method to be followed while bursting crackers during Diwali.
The session started with the introduction of the resource people. They briefed about the different types of fire accidents such as ‘A’ class fire, ‘B’ class fire & ‘C’ class fire. They demonstrated how to put out fire during the time of fire accident and made the children to put out fire in various ways using sand, fresh leaves, wet sack and fire extinguisher. They showed how to burst the crackers and the safety measures to be taken while bursting them. They insisted the students to avoid bursting the crackers like atom bomb and rockets. Finally, they demonstrated how they put out fire in multi-story buildings. An awareness on the fire accidents was given to the students, which would be useful to them at times of emergency.
The State Bank of India Officers’ Association (Chennai Circle) whose motto is “Service Before Self” is a registered Trade Union of S.B.I. Officers working in the State of Tamilnadu and U.T. of Pondicherry. The State Bank of India Officers’ Association Educational Trust was sponsored in the year 1978 by the Association and it started educational institutions for the benefit of Officers’ children and to serve the society. This service is given irrespective of caste, creed or colour.
